Monday’s Card

Not a great card today but I’ve been searching for value and I think I’ve found one:

This mare is 3lb lower than last year and trainer obviously targets this race. Only has two horses in training and will make sure they’re prepped correctly plus jockey having a good year with 5lb claim an advantage. Similar preparation as last year and trainer does traditionally well this time of year.

Friday’s Card

The 6-year-old mare looks to be the pick of the card. The win at Doncaster last year over similar trip and ground from Briery Belle is strong form with Briery Belle winning its next 3 races, the last one of which, was a 9lb higher mark. The next race after this, off a mark of 135, The Organist’s looked liked winning before falling at the last hurdle. There should be plenty more to come from this Oliver Sherwood trained mare this season and she looks a great bet at the current 10/1 on offer providing she’s strip fitter for her pipe-opener.

Colin’s Sister in the Long Distance Hurdle, is best priced at 12/1. Will strip fitter for her second run of the Jumps proper season, think 3m is key for her and only been beaten once over hurdles (2m4f and a grade 1). “Colin’s Sister wasn’t here to make up the numbers. I thought she had an each-way chance, I thought the step up to three miles would make her. She won every time last year except in a Grade 1 in Ireland where the ground dried up. She’s a very good horse, she could go for a mares’ hurdle at Kempton or Cheltenham “. Perfect distance and over soft, she will love the galloping track for a yard that’s had an unreal season and Paddy Brennan who’s got a point to prove.

Monday’s Card

Mick Thonic has been racing against stronger company. He has dropped to a very attractive mark and stable are in fantastic form. This horse has a great chance for the Potts family and with Robbie Power coming over to take the ride in the absence of injured Bryan Cooper this looks a good punt in a weaker contest.

Forever field is the top weigh in a competitive class 3 handicap chase. He’s familiar with the course and has twice finished 2nd by a length or less and with a bit more cut in the ground, might be worth an each way play at a big looking 9/1. Nicky Henderson is still in fine form, with 24% of winners in the last 14 days.
